Coaching for Women in Tech in London: From Self-Doubt to Promotion

It started with doubt.
“I’m not ready.”
That’s what she told herself at first.
Despite being highly skilled in her tech role, something kept her from going for the promotion she really wanted. She wasn’t short of ambition but her inner critic was loud. And like many women in tech, she’d absorbed years of subtle messages that made her question whether she truly belonged.
Then she joined one of my group coaching cohorts.

In that space, supported, seen, and challenged; things began to shift.
She gained clarity. She uncovered what was holding her back. She understood how her thoughts and emotions were shaping her actions...or inaction.
She learned to what extent she was operating in her comfort, stretch, and panic zones. She realised growth wasn’t about pushing through fear blindly, but about understanding what her discomfort was trying to teach her.
She got familiar with the signals her emotions were sending, learning from them, and sitting comfortably with them. She started to challenge unhelpful thoughts, shift into more empowering beliefs, all while connecting with others navigating similar terrain.
Through coaching, she discovered how loaded the phrase “I’m not ready” really was. Beneath it, she found doubt; an overactive inner critic; patterns that kept her spinning in one place. But by separating fact from fear she created different choices about how to move forward.
She came to realise readiness wasn’t about having it all figured out, it was about an openness to grow into what’s possible.
So, when the moment came, she stepped forward, applied for the promotion and secured it.

“The confidence I gained from the group enabled me to apply for a promotion… which I got.”
And more importantly, she walked away with something even more valuable: a deep belief in herself and confidence beyond what she’d previously thought possible.
“Looking back at the first session compared to the last, I can see a clear reflection of my personal growth and development.”
Coaching Support helps Women in Tech Thrive
Stories like this are all too rare not because women in tech aren’t capable, but because many don’t get access to the kind of support that makes their confidence stick. This is then, of course, compounded by the enduring effects of systemic bias.
So, in London’s fast-paced tech and data sector, women still leave the industry at higher rates than men. Burnout, bias, isolation, and stalled career progression are common challenges and they aren’t solved with a single workshop or course.
Growth and transformation happens when you’re supported to reflect, challenge old patterns, and take action week by week.
This is why I created Ping! A coaching-led community built for women in tech and data to grow with confidence and clarity.

Final Thoughts

That growth doesn’t end when the cohort wraps. It ripples into relationships, leadership, and long-term career confidence.
And she wasn’t the only one.
She shared her story with others in the group and felt even more empowered because of it.
So if you’re wondering whether coaching-led support really works? This story is just one of many.
